WK 3 – ARGENTINA: EL VOSEO, EL TANGO Y BUENOS AIRES
Learn the special characteristics of the Spanish language in Argentine through one of Argentina’s most popular cultural forms: el tango.
WK 4 – COLOMBIA: LA CULTURA DE LA VIOLENCIA Y BOTERO
Discover the history of Colombian society and its violence and how this has been reflected in the art of Botero.
WK 5 – ESTADOS UNIDOS: EL ‘ESPANGLISH’
Learn about the strong Hispanic influence in the USA and how this has lead to the appearance of a new language “spanglish”, which already has its own literature and rules.
WK 6 – GUATEMALA: LAS MARAS Y LA EMIGRACIÓN
Discover the Mayans, an ancient civilization that stretched throughout much of Central America, who developed a calendar that people believed could predict the end of the world.
WK 7 – PERÚ: CINE
Learn aspects of this country through film director, Claudia Llosa and her film La teta asustada (The milk of sorrow).
WK 8 – ESPAÑA: SUS OTRAS LENGUAS OFICIALES
Learn a bit more about Spain and the three languages spoken in this country in addition to Spanish Basque, Catalan and Galician.
WK 9 – COSTA RICA: NATURALEZA Y CULTURA
Explore the nature and the cultural diversity of this country which attracts so many tourists and travellers in the world.
WK 10 – CHILE: LA DICTADURA LATINOAMERICANA
The dictatorships of Latino America have been a constant factor in each country’s history and their peoples’ lives. In this lesson we approach the topic through one specific dictatorship in Chile.
The course has been fantastic! I have been learning Spanish with Vamos since last year and I am amazed at how much I have learnt. This is mainly due to the excellent quality of the teaching. Sonia is an inspiring and highly skilled teacher who makes the lessons fun and engaging. She also provides a very structured framework of grammar and language skills which we build on each session. She shares her knowledge of Spanish culture and makes lessons really enjoyable and great fun. I am really inspired to keep learning.
It feels like a safe space to learn and ask questions. The activity book is very helpful and Sonia is friendly and knowledgeable.
